Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Staff Accountant to enhance our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role involves tax preparation, planning, and various accounting functions, providing an excellent opportunity for long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare individual, corporate, S-corporation, and partnership tax returns.

- Conduct tax planning and provide strategic consultation to clients.

- Perform accounting and bookkeeping tasks for small businesses.

- Process payroll and prepare related tax documentation.

- Handle tax notices and correspondence with the IRS and state agencies.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience.

- Strong in-person oral and written communication skills.

- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

- CPA or EA designation is a plus but not required.

- Experience with Lacerte Tax software is preferred, but not necessary.

- Familiarity with QuickBooks software.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Willingness to visit local Chicago-area clients as needed.
