Job Summary
The Tech Pack Designer will play a critical role in the product development process. They will translate design concepts into detailed technical specifications for manufacturing. They will collaborate closely with design, production, and sourcing teams to ensure the accurate execution of each garment, from initial concept to final production.
 

Responsibilities

  • Technical Specification Development: Creating detailed tech packs that outline garment construction, materials, trims, sizing, and labeling requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards, license requirements and industry regulations.
  • Collaborating with Design Team: Working closely with design team to interpret design concepts and translate them into feasible technical specifications, providing input on construction techniques, fit, and functionality. This will include color reduction and simplifying licensed patterns.
  • Sample Review and Feedback: Reviewing and evaluating samples for accuracy and quality, providing feedback to suppliers / oversea factories and making necessary revisions to ensure adherence to design and technical specifications.
  • Communication and Coordination: Maintaining clear and effective communication with internal teams and external suppliers throughout the development process, ensuring alignment on timelines, priorities, and requirements.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintaining organized records of all tech packs, sample evaluations, and communication with suppliers, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for reference and future production runs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Illustration, Graphic Design or related field.
  • Proven experience in technical design or product development. (Apparel is a plus)
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator or other design software for creating tech packs and visual presentations.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and quality.
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and manufacturers is a plus.
  • Packaging Tech Pack knowledge is a plus.
