Metallurgical Engineer  (Team Leader)

Summary:

Due to an internal promotion, we’re seeking a strong team leader to oversee a team of 11 skilled employees in metallurgical and quality operations. You’ll ensure metallurgical integrity, heat treat process control, and interpretation of microstructures while driving continuous improvement in a metalworking manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Lead/Manage Metallurgical Lab & Metrology Gauge Room teams (~11 skilled team memebers)
🔹 Oversee non-destructive testing (UT, XRF, MPI, etc.) & employee certifications
🔹 Ensure compliance with corporate metallurgical standards
🔹 Analyze metallurgical data & resolve non-conformities
🔹 Manage process control plans for heat treating & thermal treatment
🔹 Drive capital projects for quality, performance, & cost improvements

What You Need:

✔ Bachelor’s in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field
✔ 4+ years in metallurgical engineering, including knowledge of heat treating
✔ Experience interpreting microstructures
✔ 1+ year leading teams in a lab and/or manufacturing setting
✔ Strong problem-solving & data analysis skills

🎯 Preferred: ASQ certification (Quality Engineer/Manager), project management experience, and expertise in machining & grinding.
