Position:  Supply Chain Buyer / Planner
 
Our client is a diversified technology hardware, software, and solutions firm that continues to grow and lead in their sector, in search of a Supply Chain Buyer / Planner to lead the sourcing and purchasing functions.  This role is critical given the continued growth of the firm in both existing and new products and markets. 
 
The firm is located in Ft. Wayne IN and is targeting regional candidates who can work on site, preferably 5 days a week.  Candidates within an easy drive (~150 miles) of northeast Indiana will receive preference, with travel / lodging compensation for those not local to Ft. Wayne.
 
What you'll do: 
  • Function as a buyer and planner with the goal of effectively managing spend and the level of service from vendors.   
  • Assess current suppliers per established QA process to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Negotiate pricing and other terms with vendors.  
  • Develop / enhance internal stakeholder relationships to ensure quality and quantity needs are met.
  • Approve invoices received.
  • Review existing contracts and renewals and negotiate with suppliers for favorable terms.
What it takes:
  • At least 5 years in progressive roles that encompass the above responsibilities. 
  • Solid understanding of supply chains and the buying and planning functions.
  • Ideally, experience in a growth-oriented and / or PE backed firm. 
  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, business administration, computer science or engineering, or equivalent experience.  Graduate degree a plus.
  • Data analysis skills related to sourcing and purchasing encompassing both costs and service levels. 
  • Strong skills with standard software tools such as Excel and other MS Office tools. 
  • Experience extracting data from systems of record.  NetSuite background is a plus.
  • Certifications (CPSM, etc.) and training related to sourcing and procurement are a plus. 
  • Attention to detail and dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal communication, grace under pressure, and critical thinking skills.
