Position: IT Specialist - Digital Migration Project
Location: Jamaica, NY - Hybrid (candidate must be able to work on-site or remote as scheduled)
Hours: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (8 hours a day, excluding lunch)
C2C/1099: $43.33/hr.

Job Summary
A Digital Asset Management (DAM) Specialist to assist with planning, system configuration, implementation, and migration of our digital collection from a legacy system to a new digital asset management system, recollect, working closely with the vendor, Metadata Services, and ITD.

Job Description
  • System administrator of the Library’s Digital Asset Management System.
  • System configuration such as, creating and modifying user roles and permissions, metadata schemas and fields, content organization (folders, tags, categories).
  • Troubleshoot technical issues or escalate problems and work with the appropriate technology team and the vendor to provide solutions.
  • Initiate change control for all required work and informs all stakeholders of upcoming changes.
  • Provide training as needed.
  • Prepares work plans for installations & upgrades.
  • Coordinate with IT, stakeholders, and the Vendor to ensure system are fully tested in a satisfactory manner using scripts and regression testing methods.
  • Serves as technical support contact for emergency issues, where customer service is impaired.
  • Ensures the software is properly functioning in production at all times.
  • Maintain documentation of system configurations, workflows, and user guides.
  • Act as site administrator for front end user experience.
  • Coordinate the implementation and migration of digital assets to the new DAMS.
  • Schedule project meetings with all stake holders and the vendor.
  • Document project details and status updates.
  • Assist in data migration, ensuring accuracy and completeness of asset transfers.
  • Establish criteria for user acceptance.
  • Work with the vendor, teams and the stake holders to implement processes for digital asset ingestion, organization, and retrieval.
  • Provide training as needed.
  • Manage a running list of system issues and enhancements for the digital asset management system.
  • Conduct testing through the project.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of experience working with content management or digital asset management systems (Recollect, CONTENTdm, Islandora, PastPerfect, etc). Experience must include administration, implementation, maintenance, and familiarity with metadata standards and digital asset lifecycle management.
  • 3 years of experience as a system administrator. Experience must include system configuration, creation of user roles and permissions, metadata schemas and fields, content organization, and ability to serve as technical support contact when issues arise.
  • 2 years of experience coordinating complex data migration projects. Experience must include collaborating between IT, stakeholders, and vendors, documentation of project details, and establishing criteria for user acceptance.
  • 2 years of experience as a site administrator for front end user experience. Such as editing the header and footer, as well as the homepage through the customization of widgets.
  • 1 year of experience with support and maintenance, including training, documentation, and troubleshooting. Experience must include documentation of system configurations, workflows, and user guides.
  • 1 year of experience conducting functional and regression testing and data migration validation to ensure accuracy and completeness of asset transfers.
  • 6 months of experience working in an Archive, Public Library, or comparable institution.
