Construction Project Manager – Municipal Utilities (Full-Time, Topeka, KS)

A well-established contractor specializing in municipal utility infrastructure (primarily Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants) throughout the Central Midwest (KS, MO, NE, OK, etc.) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team. With a long-standing reputation for delivering quality projects and valuing team members, this company offers a collaborative work environment with opportunities for growth and success. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the handoff of awarded projects from estimation through completion.

  • Issue purchase orders, manage subcontracts, and coordinate material procurement and delivery.

  • Collaborate with estimators and field staff to develop and maintain project schedules.

  • Make regular site visits (1–2X per month or more as needed) to support job progress and ensure positive site culture.

  • Oversee jobsite safety practices, scheduling, material logistics, subcontractor coordination, and crew efficiency.

  • Serve as liaison with engineers, owners, and subcontractors, fostering strong working relationships.

  • Proactively resolve issues through direct communication and collaborative meetings when needed.

  • Prepare progress estimates and ensure timely invoicing and payments.

  • Represent the company in all pre-construction, progress, and closeout meetings.

  • Continuously seek ways to improve project quality, cost control, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or technical training in construction management or a related field.

  • 5+ years of general construction experience required.

  • Experience in water and wastewater projects strongly preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage time, troubleshoot problems, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
