Overview

A leading boutique management consulting firm is expanding its Business Development team and is seeking a high-impact Managing Director of Business Development focused on the Oil & Gas sector. This is a strategic growth hire with a clear mandate: drive new client acquisition and revenue across upstream, midstream, downstream, and oilfield services.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record of consultative sales within the energy space, with the ability to navigate complex organizations and influence C-suite decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies targeting oil & gas operators, service providers, and asset-intensive businesses
  • Build and manage a pipeline of high-value consulting opportunities focused on procurement, logistics, operations improvement, and cost transformation
  • Engage confidently at the C-suite level, articulating tailored solutions that address client business challenges
  • Qualify prospects, define engagement scopes, and drive opportunities through to close
  • Represent the firm’s consulting methodology and value proposition with credibility and professionalism
  • Build long-term relationships that support sustainable account growth and client referrals

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of business development or commercial consulting experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of the sector’s operational and supply chain challenges—especially in refining, exploration, production, and energy services
  • Demonstrated success selling $5M–$10M+ annually in consulting or services
  • Experience in smaller or mid-market consultancies highly preferred
  • Deep network of executive-level industry contacts
