Our client, a growing Austin area law firm, has a wonderful fully REMOTE opportunity available for an experienced Trademark Docketing Clerk. The Trademark Docketing Clerk responsibilities include handling docketing and document management functions related to all trademark prosecution and contested matters (TTAB and litigation); docketing of inbound, outbound, and internal communications; providing support services to attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants as requested. This position works closely with paralegals and attorneys to provide consistently high- quality service to clients and to provide back-up to paralegals when necessary. At least 2 years' experience with the trademark prosecution process is required.
- A comprehensive understanding of PTO rules and procedures for obtaining and maintaining trademark protection worldwide
- Ability to apply that knowledge to review and docketing of inbound, outbound, and internal communications and related docketing requests
- Create new records as needed and assist in the docketing of transferred cases
- Review and develop internal policies and procedures related to docketing
- Ensure that loss of rights deadlines are cleared in accordance with firm policies
- Assist with ensuring the integrity of internal and external contacts maintained in the database and handle global updates or reassignment of contacts as needed
- Prepare reports and assist other department staff in the preparation of reports;
- customize standard reports as needed
- Assist with client and firm projects as needed
- Assist in ensuring the smooth operations of docketing support functions during their absence
- Assist in training new assistants, paralegals, and associates on docketing processes and/or software as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- 2+ years docketing experience required
- Excellent communication skills: oral, written, and interpersonal
- Maintain confidentiality in all client and firm matters
- Interact effectively with all levels of personnel
- Respond quickly and positively to shifting demands; able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks
- Available to work overtime as needed
