Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor
Portland OR
Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 + bonus program based on performance and company results.
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed, and the capacity to be on call for consultation during other shifts.
A leading, global Food & Beverages company is seeking a talented and driven Maintenance & Reliability Supervisor to join the team at their Portland, Oregon bakery facility. This role is critical in overseeing asset reliability and maintenance operations, playing a key role in managing asset risks, optimizing operational efficiency, and leading a team to ensure continuous, dependable production performance.
Key Responsibilities
People and Labor Management

Make and execute decisions focused on Safety, Quality, and Line Efficiency for assigned production lines or areas.

Lead the Daily Meeting System for the maintenance team, ensuring consistent participation and action follow-up.

Develop, monitor, and execute maintenance and repair plans, focusing on building the skills and capabilities of the maintenance team through training and coaching.

Lead daily maintenance meetings and drive accountability for performance metrics.

Support the recruitment and interviewing process for mechanics.

Act as the primary point of contact for union-related issues, fostering strong labor relations.

Build capabilities and train new Preventive Maintenance (PM) Line Leads.

Co-Lead the management of tooling and the workshop, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Asset Reliability

Oversee and ensure the proper execution of the lubrication program.

Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer on Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Time-Based Maintenance (TBM) development, SAP management, and execution support.

Focus on budget control and identifying initial maintenance cost improvement opportunities, including low-cost improvement projects.

Lead the Preventive Maintenance (PM) agenda through Small Group Activities (SGA) on critical line equipment and partner with the autonomous team to develop maintenance standards (CIL’s, CL’s, PM’s).

Facilitate the transfer of tasks from Progressive Maintenance (PM) to Autonomous Maintenance (AM).

Lead the capability development agenda, creating a skill matrix and leading trainings for trades technicians and operators to close top skill gaps.

Lead breakdown / root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve line performance, focusing on increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

Prioritize, plan, and execute all identified abnormalities, including critical safety and quality action items.

Mentor Team Leads as required.

Support and ensure successful vertical startups, confirming assigned lines are production-ready.
Productivity and Process Improvements

Work with the Core Centric Team to develop and execute projects based on production line losses.

Collaborate with the stockroom team to investigate parts information, aiming to reduce obsolete inventory and improve overall inventory accuracy.

Research and implement best practices across multiple production lines.

Develop and maintain centerlines to ensure consistent equipment performance.

Optimize Shop-Logix data to identify and recover General Efficiency (GE) losses.
Labor & Scheduling

Create shutdown schedules and scopes of work for PM activity windows and shutdown weekends.

Coordinate weekend shift layouts based on plant needs and resource availability.

Develop, prioritize, and efficiently execute maintenance activities on assigned lines, ensuring task assignment and follow-through.

Provide coverage for Team Leads during the week and weekend as needed.

Support the organization and management of workload within the SAP system, maintaining data integrity and assigning work to the proper revisions.
Qualifications and Experience
Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Lead in a manufacturing environment is required.

Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in leading a maintenance team or similar role is preferred.

Proven experience in project management and operational leadership.

Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as SAP and Scheduling systems (e.g., Kronos).

Experience working with Union Labor employees is strongly preferred.

A proven track record of successful maintenance supervision in a plant or manufacturing setting.
