Schedule: 1,800 hours minimum expectation, 2,000+ hours is normal for many associates.
Salary Range: $140,000 to $180,000 per annum, with potential for annual bonuses, merit-based salary adjustments, and billable hour-based bonuses.
We are seeking a skilled Bankruptcy & Restructuring Associate to join a dynamic legal environment focusing on Corporate Restructuring. Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the negotiation and drafting of complex credit facilities, including asset-based lending and commercial real estate financing.
- Provide strategic advice to clients on financial distress, corporate restructuring, workouts, and insolvency proceedings, especially from the perspective of creditors.
- Assist with mergers and acquisitions as well as commercial property transactions.
- Conduct thorough due diligence, analyze loan portfolios, and prepare transactional documents alongside bankruptcy-related pleadings.
- Engage in direct client interactions with ample opportunities for professional growth.
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active membership and good standing with the New Jersey Bar. Ability to waive into NY.
- Four (4) years of experience minimum, with a focus in bankruptcy, corporate finance, and financial restructuring serving high-end clientele, large corporations and conglomerates in navigating through the arduous process of Chapter 11 bankruptcy, amongst other types.
- Proven experience managing complex transactional legal matters.
Preferred Skills:
- An LLM or Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting focus would help a candidate succeed in this heavily technical fiduciary role.
- Proficiency in asset-based lending, distressed debt, and creditors' rights in Chapter 11 proceedings.
- Strong understanding of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
- Exceptional analytical, research, and document drafting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex legal matters both independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to delivering exemplary client service.
