Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruiting division client, located in North York, is a well-established small public accounting firm that has built a strong reputation for providing personalized accounting, tax, and advisory services to owner-managed businesses and individuals. Due to continued growth and long-term succession planning, they are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a fully designated CPA with solid public accounting experience who enjoys working closely with clients in a collaborative and supportive environment. The successful candidate will play an important role within the firm, with approximately 80% of the workload focused on Notice to Reader (NTR)/compilation engagements and 20% on assurance work.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare Notice to Reader (NTR)/compilation engagement financial statements
Prepare year-end working papers and supporting documentation
Assist with review and other assurance engagements, which will represent approximately 20% of the role
Prepare corporate, personal, trust, and partnership income tax returns
Work directly with a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
Communicate with clients to obtain information and respond to accounting and tax-related inquiries
Identify accounting and tax issues and bring them to the attention of the partners as appropriate
Ensure client engagements are completed accurately and on schedule
Collaborate with the firm's partners and accounting team on a variety of client engagements
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as required
QualificationsCPA designation is required
3+ years of relevant Canadian public accounting experience
Strong experience preparing NTR/compilation engagements
Experience with review engagements and other assurance work is an asset
Strong understanding of Canadian accounting and tax principles
Experience preparing corporate and personal tax returns
Excellent communication and client-service skills
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Must be comfortable working fully in-office in North York; this position does not offer remote or hybrid work

Experience with trust and partnership tax returns is considered an asset
Experience with review engagements is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax principles
Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills
Ability to manage multiple client files while meeting deadlines
