Our TorontoJobs.ca Recruiting division client, a well-established mid-sized CPA firm located in North York, is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager / Tax Principal to join their growing tax practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior tax professional who has developed strong technical expertise in Canadian taxation and is looking to take on a greater leadership role within a respected public accounting firm. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and clients on complex tax matters, provide strategic tax planning and advisory services, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's tax practice.
The firm is open to considering candidates at either the Senior Tax Manager or Tax Principal level, depending on experience, technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and overall fit.
ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic Canadian tax planning and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of corporate and owner-managed clients
Review complex corporate, personal, trust, and partnership tax returns
Advise clients on a broad range of tax matters, including corporate reorganizations, estate and succession planning, shareholder transactions, and other tax planning opportunities
Research and interpret Canadian tax legislation, CRA administrative positions, and relevant case law
Identify tax planning opportunities and develop practical recommendations for clients
Prepare and/or review tax planning memorandums and other technical deliverables
Work closely with partners and senior team members on complex client engagements
Provide technical guidance and support to managers, staff, and other professionals within the firm
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients
Assist with business development initiatives and identify opportunities to expand the firm's tax advisory services
Participate in client meetings and communicate complex tax matters in a clear and practical manner
Mentor and develop members of the tax team
Stay current with changes to Canadian tax legislation and communicate relevant developments to the team and clients
QualificationsCPA designation is required
Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or a Master's degree in Taxation is required
Significant Canadian public accounting tax experience
Current or recent experience working with a mid-sized CPA/public accounting firm
Strong technical knowledge of Canadian corporate and personal taxation
Extensive experience with tax planning and advisory services
Experience with corporate reorganizations and other complex tax matters is an asset
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to lead engagements and provide technical direction to other professionals
Ability to work independently and take ownership of client files
Strong business development skills are an asset for candidates being considered at the Principal level
