Job description:
Position Title: Law Firm, Competition Associate
Location: London
Experience Level : NQ-4PQE
Remuneration Range: 164,000 - 190,000 plus bonus
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on a wide range of competition law matters, with a focus on EU and UK jurisdictions.
- Assist in conducting due diligence for merger control cases, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Participate in the investigation and defense of alleged antitrust violations, including cartel activities and abuse of dominance cases.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, submissions, and correspondence, for competition litigation proceedings.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client advisories.
- Collaborate closely with senior associates and partners to support client engagements and contribute to the development of case strategies.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor in the UK or EU, with strong academic credentials from a leading academic institution.
- Newly qualified candidates or individuals with up to 4 years of post-qualification experience in competition law.
- Demonstrated experience in EU and UK competition matters, including merger control, Article 101/Chapter 1 cases, and Article 102/Chapter 2 investigations.
- Familiarity with competition litigation procedures and practices is desirable.
- Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
- Prior experience working in London or Brussels, preferably within a leading law firm. Candidates from regional law firms or regulatory agencies, will also be considered.
- Exposure to interactions with regulatory bodies such as the European Commission and UK competition authorities.
- Fluency in multiple languages is a plus, particularly proficiency in French or German.
