Objective
The Controller will oversee the Accounting & Finance function to help ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely and in compliance with GAAP standards. This leader will manage two team members and will also evaluate/implement internal controls to prevent errors or misstatements in the financials.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain intricate knowledge of GAAP and demonstrate the ability to successfully operate in accordance with these guidelines
- Manage team members to delegate work appropriately while providing coaching and leading by example
- Lead the month end close process to ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete, timely and in compliance with GAAP requirements
- Oversee reconciliations on a monthly basis (bank rec, credit card rec, payroll, accrued expenses, prepaid, etc…)
- Support the external audit process through gathering necessary account information and documents required by the auditors
- Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as needed including back-up for others on the team

- Ensure payroll for the entire company is processed accurately and timely including regular salaries as well as commissions and other bonus payouts
- Ensure proper setup and compliance with federal, state and local tax requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
- 6-10 years of relevant experience , incl. leading a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Time management skills along with ability to meet deadlines
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
- NetSuite or similar accounting software experience preferred
