Our client, a prominent aerospace manufacturer, is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to ensure that high-precision aerospace components meet exacting quality standards. This role is integral to maintaining the quality, reliability, and safety standards required in the aerospace industry.
Job Summary
The Aerospace CMM Programmer is responsible for developing and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to inspect and verify complex aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CMM programming, thorough knowledge of GD&T, and a commitment to quality. This position involves collaborating with quality, engineering, and production teams to identify and correct issues impacting component conformity.
Key Responsibilities
- CMM Programming: Create, modify, and validate CMM programs to inspect aerospace components with high precision, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Inspection & Measurement: Conduct CMM inspections and measurements of first articles, in-process, and final products. Interpret CMM reports to assess component compliance.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T symbols to develop appropriate inspection programs and protocols.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements in inspection processes to reduce measurement time and enhance accuracy.
- Quality Assurance: Work with the quality and engineering teams to address non-conformances, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Documentation: Maintain records of inspection reports, CMM programs, and any modifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Calibration & Maintenance: Ensure CMM equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operationally efficient. Arrange for periodic servicing and troubleshoot any equipment issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Metrology, Engineering, Quality Control, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:
- 3+ years of experience programming and operating CMMs in an aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, or equivalent).

Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and interpretation of AS9100 standards.
- Experience with CAD software for model-based inspection and 3D modeling.
- Familiarity with first article inspection (FAI) and inspection standards in the aerospace industry.
