Civil Engineer in Training
We are looking for a Civil Engineer to support public works projects in Phoenix, AZ. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this full-time role involves working on site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, hands-on experience with design software, and a foundational understanding of civil engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Design & Development: Assist in preparing plans for grading, stormwater drainage, erosion control, and utility layouts.
- Technical Calculations: Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, earthwork computations, and volume calculations to support engineering designs.
- Software Applications: Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, and other modeling tools to create precise project plans.
- Regulatory Compliance: Research and ensure designs meet local, state, and federal standards.
- Project Coordination: Assist project managers and senior engineers with permit applications, technical reports, and cost estimates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with designers, drafters, and engineers to achieve project objectives efficiently.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification – Must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works engineering with a focus on site design and development.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD).
- Strong knowledge of site grading, drainage principles, stormwater management, and utility design.
