Corporate Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Location: Greater Chattanooga, Tennessee
Due to growth a terrific repeat large manufacturing client has once again engaged our firm to find a leader for its Manufacturing Engineering function. This position will be located in Greater Chattanooga, and include 10-15% overnight travel to 5 other N. American plants generating approximately $1.0 billion in revenue. Must have deep experience in metal, metal fabrication, welding and assembly. You will lead, develop and manage a solid team of about 15 on your corporate team and individually at the larger facilities. Our client is also targeting experience in systems, Lean / Six Sigma, VAVE, and Industry 4.0 to go along with leadership, strategy and vision to develop this function. Budgeted total compensation is $200k to $225k with a possibility to stretch for a candidate that checks all the boxes. Relocation is included on top of this package and is expected.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and mentor a hardworking team of manufacturing engineers
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, processes, and efficiency to increase throughput and drive down costs
- Analyze Capex options and assist in benefit analysis along with cost-reduction initiatives
- Collaborate with the PMO and cross-functional teams to ensure new and existing products are designed for manufacturability, safety, and cost-efficiency
- Execute manufacturing strategies, including automation, lean processes, and facility layout optimization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operations, required
- Master's degree or MBA desired but not required
- 8+ years of engineering leadership at a larger manufacturer ideally with multiple site responsibilities
- ERP systems experience and tech savvy enough to support systems implementation and utilization in manufacturing processes
- Metal, mechanical assembly, welding, and fabrication experience is 100% required - our client will not consider chemical, food, plastic extrusion, oil & gas, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership and history of solving complex problems
H1B sponsorship is not desired, though TN sponsorship is an option.
