Job Title: R&D Chemical Engineer
Position Summary:
The R&D Chemical Engineer plays a key role in driving innovation, improving product quality, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of plant operations. This position focuses on advanced engineering design, technical problem-solving, and support for process safety and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed engineering analysis to troubleshoot and optimize process operations.

Design and specify new process equipment (e.g., heat exchangers) to meet production goals.

Maintain and update process safety documentation, including PSV calculations and release scenarios.

Facilitate and lead Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to evaluate process risks and recommend safety measures.

Develop safe work practices and maintenance protocols for systems involving hazardous chemicals.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and HSE.

Perform other duties as assigned in support of plant and R&D objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:

Strong analytical thinker with the ability to apply engineering principles to complex problems.

Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset and ability to build rapport with operations teams.

Proficient in time and project management, capable of working independently under pressure.

Deep understanding of chemical processes, process safety management, and engineering standards.

Familiar with regulatory and quality frameworks (ISO 9001/14001, environmental compliance).

Hands-on experience with process simulation and design software (e.g., Aspen Plus, CAD).

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

Experience in data analysis using spreadsheets and databases.

Knowledge of analytical chemistry and lab techniques preferred.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%).
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.

Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering is a plus.
