Manager of Investment Accounting & Financial Operations

(Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday in the Boston office)

Our client is a not for profit that provides financial security to members and their families through various insurance products, investment alternatives and annuity products. The organization is mission driven and supports a wide range of charitable activities. They believe that bolstering the financial health of members strengthens the overall impact of their charity.
The Manager of Investment Accounting and Financial Operations serves as an important member supporting the investment activities of the organization's Charitable Fund. This role is instrumental in ensuring the financial integrity and operational excellence of the donor-advised fund (DAF) program and other related entities. This position blends management oversight with hands-on execution, requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable developing financial policies and rolling up their sleeves to manage day-to-day accounting and operational tasks.

The position involves managing core accounting functions, preparing financial reports, processing financial transactions and driving process improvements across the organization. Success in this position requires a strong foundation in nonprofit accounting, investment operations, financial reporting and treasury operations. This is a new position to support the continued growth of the organization. Specific areas include;
Accounting

Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities.

Oversee general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.

Manage the annual audit process and the preparation of Form 990s, coordinating with external auditors and tax professionals.

Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures, with a focus on donor-advised funds and other charitable strategies.

Provide financial reporting and analysis for the Board of Directors and various committees.

Donor Advised Fund Administration and Operations

Oversee the day-to-day financial transactions, including processing payments, reconciling accounts and managing cash flows.

Manage individual DAF accounting, including tracking contributions, investment income, grant disbursements, accounts payable transactions, and processing account level fees.

Work with the client success team to ensure timely and accurate grant distributions and fund reporting.

Assist in implementing technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.

Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, GAAP and industry best practices related to donor-advised funds and other charitable strategies.



Qualifications:

Qualifications;
Extensive knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.

Proven experience in financial or treasury operations.

Ability to balance strategic financial oversight with hands-on transactional work in a lean team environment.

Systems/Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with donor-advised fund platforms is a plus.
Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related major is required.

CPA and prior experience in Public Accounting is strongly preferred.

Six (6) plus years of progressive experience in accounting or finance and demonstrated management experience

Relevant experience could be gained at the charitable operations of a financial institution, national non-profit charities, community foundations or specialized outside service providers
