Role Summary

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in day-to-day financial operations while also serving as a trusted partner to leadership during a period of continued growth and operational evolution. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring deadlines are met, and supporting sound financial decision-making across the organization.

In addition to strong technical accounting capabilities, this role is designed for a professional who can grow into a leadership position, eventually overseeing the accounts team, enforcing timelines and controls, and leading new accounting initiatives as they arise. As the organization continues to evolve under new leadership, this role will be instrumental in supporting future process improvements and financial enhancements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal deadlines.
  • Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements; assist with internal and external audits.
  • Maintain organized, accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and assist with tax-related filings as required.
  • Lead or support new accounting projects and process improvements as business needs evolve.
  • Provide guidance, structure, and oversight to the accounting function, with the long-term expectation of leading the accounts team and enforcing deadlines and standards.
  • Serve as a reliable, confident financial partner to leadership, offering both detailed execution and strong professional presence.
  • Serve as backup payroll processor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AP/AR, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, priorities, and multiple workstreams.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail combined with the ability to see the broader financial picture.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred (not required).
